Prescriptions

Ordering repeat and written prescriptions

Prescriptions are available from this practice.

You may obtain prescription only medicines, Category V(POM-Vs) from your veterinary surgeon or ask for a prescription which allows you to obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or an on-line pharmacy.

Please note that we now email all prescriptions direct to the online pharmacy of your choice. This means that any issues with prescriptions can be resolved directly with us.

We advise asking for repeat prescriptions with a minimum of one week’s notice to allow time for our vets to check your pet’s records, write a prescription and then pharmacy processing time. We always try to process all requests as soon as possible, but some weeks we have significantly more emergencies that we need to prioritise.

Your veterinary surgeon may prescribe relevant veterinary medicinal products only following a clinical assessment of an animal under his or her care.  A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary.

You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be prescribed for your animal.

The general policy of this practice is to re-assess an animal requiring repeat prescriptions or supplies of relevant veterinary medicinal products every 3 months, but this may vary with individual circumstances.
