Exotic Pets

The wonderful world of exotic pets

At Castle Vets we treat virtually any animal that is kept as a small pet. Animals that come under the ‘exotic’ category are pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, birds and reptiles etc – in other words anything small and furry, feathered or scaled.

We have a completely separate ward for our small pet in-patients, enabling us to treat them away from natural ‘predator’ animals such as dogs and cats.

This means that our exotic patients can receive the care they require in an appropriate environment and undergo far less stress when hospitalised for any length of time.

Please note that while our vets are able to see and treat exotic pets, we DO NOT have an exotic ‘specialist vet’ at Castle Vets (this is the same for the vast majority of veterinary practices).
