About Us

We have been caring for the pets of Reading and the surrounding areas for over 100 years

At Castle Vets we have been caring for the pets of Reading and the surrounding areas for over 100 years. Over that time we have built up an enviable reputation within and beyond the Reading community

We strive to provide outstanding, compassionate veterinary care to improve the quality and length of life for pets and bring peace of mind and reassurance to their owners.  Our aim is to provide a caring, professional personalised service, that recognises the individual bond you have with your pet and works with you to try and keep your pet happy and well throughout its life.

We are a large, single centre, small animal veterinary practice in central Reading. We have been on our site on Tilehurst road since 1972 and our recently rebuilt premises now includes a separate but integrated cat clinic, outstanding in-patient wards and operating theatres (including advanced dentistry), spacious comfortable waiting areas, 9 consulting rooms for both veterinary and nurse consultations, diagnostics room with x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy equipment and a well equipped laboratory.

We are proud to be the only local practice offering completely separate cat friendly facilities. Our integrated Cat Clinic was awarded the coveted Gold Award from International Cat Care and is part of our outstanding air-conditioned modern layout, including spacious segregated in-patient wards and operating theatres, comfortable waiting areas and a large free car park.

Our outstanding facilities make us the ideal choice as host practice for Vets Now who provide many local practices with out of hours emergency cover from our site. Our extensive facilities and collaboration with Vets Now, means that your pet can be cared for on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should the need arise. A minimum of one veterinary surgeon and one qualified veterinary nurse remain on duty at the practice premises, whatever the time of day or night, to ensure regular monitoring and the administration of any required medications to our patients.
Castle Vets is accredited by the RCVS, and is a Veterinary Nurse training centre
