Pet Of The Month (May) Bertie

This handsome boy is 5 year old Bertie

Bertie POTM May

Bertie came in Castle Vets to see the vet in early May because his right eye was very sore due to an infection or injury. Unfortunately Bertie’s eye did not improve with treatment, his condition got much worse and his eye ruptured.  Bertie needed an operation to remove his eye (called an enucleation), which was performed, leaving Bertie much more comfortable.

The nursing team reported that Bertie was a lovely friendly patient who was always ready for a bit of TLC, but he did have a habit of trying to escape and was often caught trying to paw at the latch on his kennel or trying to rush out when the door was opened!

Bertie has recovered really well from his operation and, as you can see, it hasn’t prevented him from going about his normal routine.

Bertie’s Owner Wrote

“Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the staff who looked after my cat Bertie during his recent eye operation.  He is very happy being back outside (see attached photo) and appears to be coping really well with only one eye. I am also grateful for the reassuring experience when Bertie and I come to the surgery (as happens quite often!).  I have asked him if he can keep out of trouble for a while, but he says he can’t make any promises! Many thanks again”
